I find Amy super cute in this page.

Did you create the design for Razor the Shark? I think it is his first appareance here.

I have a question!

When you sketch these out, do you take account the space for when someone puts in the text bubbles?

Oh...so, YOU'RE the one who penciled the Waves of Change saga.  That explains why your fan character, Crystal's in the first issue.  Lol.  XD

I read this earlier. The comic is right there in my Sonic stack. It's incredible to think that it's been drawn by you, after looking at your work for almost 10 years. =) <3

If you told the you of even five years ago that you'd get to do this awesome work on the Sonic comics, do you think the past you would believe it?

Seriously, this is some amazing work, and I like the look of Shark Week there.

I'm going to be as honest as Abe here... your pencils, as usual, are great. However I will say that one can only work so well given the limitations of working off of pages/panels, y'know? :/ But that aside, you did a great job.

But... I've noticed this being an issue with a lot of the Sonic comics' art.. the pencils seem to always be "dumbed down" through the inking process. This particular inker seems to rely on rough inking more than smoothing out the lines and that doesn't go together well with your generally "cute" style, thus the final image comes off as kinda clunky compared to the original pencil work. (I noticed this most in Amy's hands and mouth.)

Other than that, though, your pencil work is great. :)

right! i know! *0*

im not liking the final line work result

I mean, her style is cute and rounded, and the line work is all jagged and edgy
it makes the work look, kinda, lazy in the end result :/

I notice that it seems the inker is having the final say... the sketches are very recognizable and very likable... but the final product feels like a downgrade.

Again, tho this isn't Jen's fault at all. She's the pencilist, not the inker. I would advise them to ease up on how much they "tweak" the pencils in the inking process. This is causing a lot of the final artwork in the comics to look too identical to each other.

oh i know she doesnt do the line work ^v^

i mean, im not hating on the artist line work, its a nice style, on its own, you know.
But in comparesen to the sketch draft, like you said, her style is being heavily done over *A*

but yea i agree with you ^^

I'm not quite sure what you mean when you say "dumbed down" but I do think I know what you mean by "rough." I think it comes down to Terry Austin using pens as opposed to a brush. I think. I could be totally wrong. Rather than using smooth, flowy lines, he uses smaller, more angular lines. He's gotten way better about this, though, as I remember previous issues where every curve was practically a 45 degree angle. Nowadays it's very subtle. Anyways, I could talk about other Archie inkers who use smoother strokes, but instead I'll commend Austin for adding better contrast to the rocks and adding in little details like dust. He added just enough details to spice things up, but not so much as to overpower the original character of the pencils. Too bad the speech bubbles covered most of it XD

By "dumbed down" I mean that the final product winds up looking slightly less dynamic. I could recognize Jen's pencil work, but through inking, it looked like any other art. :/ Again, Jen did a great job, not being negative towards her at all. :) I simply think that Terry's inking style doesn't fit as well with Jens pencils as they could. (I'm so scared I'm accidentally gonna say something that'll piss people off :p )

Huh...

You should make the tail fin and dorsal fin a little sharper in the next appearances.  Otherwise he looks more like a Cetacean than a shark.  Also, you should have just made him a dolphin to begin with IMO.

But I guess that's nitpicky isn't it?

Nah you're right about the tail, I tried fixing it in the second issue I did but eh. If I ever draw him again, I'll get it right.

Also, I had absolutely no say in what species he was in the first place. :/ I thought he was fine as a shark idk.

Thanks for commenting!

Eh, it just makes no sense, but when did sonic ever have to make any sense?

I would probably just like throw it out there in a meeting that Razor should look as sharp as possible, where as any whale/dolphin characters should look round in contrast.

I don't really read anymore, I just get my sonic news from you guys!

And I personally think you did a wonderful job on this issue. :aww: It gave the story a sweet feel to it. The colors Cassata gave also brought out your work very nicely and made it pleasantly colorful. Seeing that you actually got to do some work for Archie is really inspiring to me. ;u; I hope I get to see you do more for them.
